Mayor Sarno and Mayoral Aid Click-Bruce Joined for Black Men of Greater Springfield Last Day of Summer Program Lunch Event

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Mayoral Aide Lavar Click-Bruce joined today for the Black Men of Greater Springfield (W.E.B. DuBois Summer Program) Last Day of Summer Program Lunch Event at the Church in the Acres. The summer program, sponsored by the Black Men of Greater Springfield (BMGS), is a free six-week program that serves over 30 children, ages 8-14 years old.

Mayor Sarno states, “I am proud to continue to support this solid youth development program from the days of Art Jones.  This great group of gentlemen, led by William Zachery, President of Black Men of Greater Springfield, Larry Moore, Director of Summer Program, and City Hall’s own 311 Director Roy Goodman who also serves as their Vice President, do such a wonderful job serving our community with a variety of programs and initiatives that aim at fostering excellence and improving the quality of life for our youth, especially our Black youth. It was good to see Building Inspector Myron Hatchet, retired Putnam Principal Clifford Flint, and Pastor Chris from Church of the Acres. We had a great time today and I am especially grateful to both WWLP and WesternMass News for letting the kids try out working the camera equipotent – it was an absolutely fantastic interaction.”
