Mayor Sarno to Usher in New East Forest Park Library on Surrey Road

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno will be in attendance as the City of Springfield celebrates the grand opening of the East Forest Park Branch Library. The ribbon cutting ceremony takes place at 136 Surrey Road, Springfield, Thursday, December 19th at 9:45 a.m.

“For well over 40 years, they’ve talked about a standalone East Forest Library – I’m so glad that my administration has been able to deliver on this neighborhood enhancement project.  Especially after the devastating EF-3 tornado, this is a true testament of the resiliency of our East Forest Park residents,” said Mayor Domenic J. Sarno.  “Many thanks go out to my City team, our state officials, our generous benefactors and a very special thanks to former Mayor Charlie Ryan and our Library Foundation for their unyielding drive and support of our entire library system.”

Mayor Sarno will be joined by Department of Health & Human Services Director Helen Caulton-Harris, Springfield City Library Director Molly Fogarty, Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners Chair Roland Ochsenbein, Springfield Library Foundation President Pat Markey, Springfield Library Commission President Stephen Cary, Senator Eric Lesser, Representative Angelo Puppolo, Representative Bud Williams and additional members of the Springfield legislative delegation, East Forest Park Ward 7 City Councilor Tim Allen, additional local elected officials, City Hall representatives, and more.
