Mayor Sarno and DPW Director Cignoli Issue Snowstorm Update

Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chris Cignoli, Director of the Department of Public Works, announce that DPW crews will be out again today plowing, salting and sanding to follow-up on yesterday’s operation.

Mayor Sarno and Director Cignoli would like to thank the continued and dedicated efforts of our DPW and also our residents and business community’s patience and resiliency during this most difficult storm.

As a reminder, the city-wide parking ban is still in effect. Parking is not permitted on the odd side of the street from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on the even side from 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. The ban will be enforced through ticketing and towing and will be in effect until further notice. Director Cignoli strongly requests that residents please keep all vehicles off of the streets to allow room for the snow plows.

Due to Winter Storm Stella, this past Tuesday’s trash and recycling pick-up was cancelled. Tuesday routes will be picked up this Saturday, March 18th; please have trash and recycling at the curb no later than 6:00 a.m.

Residents with plowing/sanding concerns are asked to call 3-1-1.  The call center can be reached from a landline by calling 3-1-1, or from outside of Springfield or via cell phone at (413) 736-3111. They will be taking calls until 7:00 p.m. tonight.
