Mayor Sarno joins and brings greetings at special Springfield Symphony Orchestra Concert for Students
Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chief Development Officer Tim Sheehan joined with Springfield Symphony Orchestra President Paul Lambert for the special Springfield Symphony Orchestra (SSO) concert performance for students held today at Symphony Hall. Mayor Sarno brought greetings to the packed crowd of enthusiastic students. Most student attendees were fourth graders and had a chance to make music along with the SSO musicians on stage.
Mayor Sarno has supported, and funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the return of Springfield Symphony Orchestra student concerts to help cultivate and the encourage youth development and access to engaging and educational musical opportunities.
Mayor Sarno stated, “I had a great time this morning with a couple thousand young students and our Springfield Symphony Orchestra as we joined for a special performance designed just for our students to help expose them to and educate them about the exciting world of symphony. It was so fitting to see the symphony conducted by a proud Springfield native Mr. Cailin Marcel Manson and the participation from the kids who were very engaged and enthusiastic. SSO Educational Director Caitlin Meyer did a great job interacting with the students and her self-made dress was beautiful. Thank you and shout to Brian Lapis for joining us too. I remember school trips as a kid (White Street School) to the planetarium and the symphony opening my eyes to new possibilities and potential career opportunities. We have a first-class symphony orchestra here in Springfield and it only makes sense to make this music and talent available to our youths. Thank you to SSO President Paul Lambert, our schools, and my economic development team for working together to make this special performance happen today.”
