Springfield Police, Schools, Fire and Partner Agencies Conduct Full-Scale Active Shooter Drill
Springfield, Mass. — On Monday August 4th, members of the Springfield Police Department, Springfield Public Schools, Springfield Fire Department, American Medical Response, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, Baystate Health, and Mercy Medical Center conducted a full-scale emergency response drill at Mary A. Dryden Veterans Memorial School.
The exercise simulated a large-scale emergency requiring coordinated response efforts among multiple agencies. More than 100 first responders and volunteers participated in the drill to create a realistic training environment for participating agencies.
This is the third annual active shooter drill. Members of the Springfield Police Student Support Unit participated along with members of the Springfield Police Emergency Services Unit.
This training helps strengthen collaboration between local and state partners to ensure a coordinated response in the event of a real emergency.
