SPD Officers Recover Illegal Firearm, Trafficking Weight of Cocaine

Springfield, Mass. — At approximately 1:35 a.m. on Wednesday July 23rd, Springfield Police Officers seized a loaded firearm, approximately 20 grams of cocaine and arrested 42-year-old Noel Martinez. 

About ten minutes earlier, officers responded to Saratoga Street for a gun call.  Officers received information that a suspect, later identified as Martinez, pointed a gun at a victim and was currently inside a convenience store on the 600 block of Main Street.  

Officers located and detained Martinez.  Officers then recovered a loaded firearm and approximately 20 grams of cocaine on him.  Officers placed Martinez under arrest.  

42-year-old Noel Martinez of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Receiving Stolen Property Less than $1200
  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Cocaine Trafficking 18-36 Grams
