Springfield Police Officers Conduct Level One Active Shooter Response Training

Springfield, Mass. — Members of the Springfield Police Emergency Services Unit (ESU) held a Level One Active Shooter Response Training for Springfield Police Officers in the Student Support Unit.

This two-day training took place on Tuesday July 15th and Wednesday July 16th at the Paul J. Fenton Public Safety Complex on East Street.

This training combined both classroom work and live-action scenarios based on previous mass shooting incidents.  The training is part of the Municipal Police Training Committee's (MPTC) curriculum for all Police Academy's in the Commonwealth.

These exercises were also in preparation of an August active shooter training with the Springfield Police, Springfield Fire, Springfield Public Schools and AMR.
