Suspect Arrested after Crashing into Two Police Cruisers 

Springfield, Mass. - On Thursday June 12th around 9:00 a.m., Springfield Police Officers arrested a 42-year-old male suspect who was wanted in connection with an armed robbery.  

Officers received information Thursday morning, that a suspect involved in a May 31st firearm-armed robbery on the 1400 block of Main Street was in a vehicle in the downtown area.  Officers located the suspect vehicle near Main Street and Chestnut Street.  The driver refused to stop.  Officers were eventually able to stop the vehicle on I-291.  The driver attempted to flee the scene, as he crashed into two Springfield Police Cruisers.  Officers were then able to detain the driver and passenger.  The driver was placed under arrest and the passenger was released.   

One officer inside a rammed cruiser went to Baystate to evaluate his injuries, he has since been discharged.   The driver was also taken to the hospital, and he has yet to be booked.  

Until the driver is booked or arraigned, his name and charges will not be released.
