SPD FIU Investigation Leads to Recovery of Trafficking Weight of Cocaine and Nearly $5000 in Cash
Springfield, Mass. — At approximately 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday September 1st, members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Captain Christopher Collins and Sergeants David Robillard, Evan Donermeyer and Patrick Denault assisted by members of the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit West and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department arrested two suspects and recovered a trafficking weight of cocaine, heroin and ammunition.
For the past several weeks, FIU Detectives have been investigating Justin Smith for the illegal distribution of crack-cocaine. Detectives then applied for and were granted search warrants for his home on McKnight Street and his vehicle.
Around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Detectives executed the search warrant at a home on the 0-100 block of McKnight Street. Smith and Quah’sier Jackson were detained pending the search.
Inside the vehicle, Detectives recovered approximately 58 bags of heroin and 23 rocks of crack-cocaine (55.4 grams).
Inside the home, Detectives recovered six loose rounds of ammunition, more than $4900 in cash. Smith and Jackson were placed under arrest.
31-year-old Justin Smith of Springfield is charged with:
- Cocaine Trafficking 36-100 Grams
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
23-year-old Quah’sier Jackson of Springfield is charged with:
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
