SPD Officers Seize Stolen Quad

Springfield, Mass. — On Wednesday June 3rd at approximately 12:00 p.m., members of the Springfield Police Ordinance Unit and Squad “B” Officers arrested one suspect and seized a stolen quad.

Shortly before noon, officers were on an unrelated call on the 700 block of Liberty Street when they observed an individual riding a quad heading towards the Armory Street rotary. These types of Off-Highway-Vehicles (OHV) cannot legally operate on city streets.  These OHV on city streets also present a danger to the rider and the public.

The rider was not wearing a helmet and stopped to gas up. Officers approached the rider and conducted a traffic stop. The rider was filling up the quad while the engine was running. The quad was reported stolen from Connecticut.  Dejesus was placed under arrest and the quad was towed.

38-year-old Alexis Dejesus of Springfield is charged with:

  • Operating a Snow/Recreational Vehicle on a Public Way
  • Operating an Unregistered Snow/Recreational Vehicle
  • Operating a Snow/Recreational Vehicle without a Helmet
  • Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
