State Representative Orlando Ramos and Springfield Delegation Honor Sergeant Mateo for Exemplary Military and Community Service

Springfield, Mass. — On Wednesday June 3rd, State Representative Orlando Ramos, presented Springfield Police Sergeant Raymond Mateo a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives following his recent commendation by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Veterans' Services.

Rep. Ramos on behalf of the entire Springfield legislative delegation, officially recognized Sergeant Mateo on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, during roll call for Squad “B” at Springfield Police Headquarters.  

Sgt. Mateo is being celebrated for his profound sacrifices and enduring contributions to the commonwealth's military and veteran community. 

Sgt. Mateo was raised in Massachusetts graduating from Chicopee High School.  The Springfield resident became a Springfield Police Officer in 2014.  In 2011 he joined the United States Air Force Reserves where he is a Technical Sergeant at Westover Air Reserve Base and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician.  Sgt. Mateo was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in June 2022 and is a Supervisor in the Uniform Division.
