SPD Congratulates Officer Robert Kalin on his Retirement

Springfield, Mass. — On behalf of the Springfield Police Department, Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers would like to congratulate Officer Robert Kalin his retirement.  Officer Robert “Sparky” Kalin served the city of Springfield as a Police Officer for nearly 33 years.  

Officer Kalin joined the Springfield Police Department in July of 1993 as Badge #400 and was initially assigned to the Uniform Division.  He was briefly assigned to the Street Crimes Unit and then to the department's Traffic Unit where he served approximately 20 years of his career.  He was a fatal crash investigator and commercial vehicle inspector.  For the last year of his career, he was assigned to the department's Supply/Detail Division.  Officer Kalin officially retired on May 29th as Badge #8.
