SPD Officers Seize Loaded Firearm, Crack-Cocaine and Recover Stolen Vehicle
Springfield, Mass. --- On Wednesday May 20th at approximately 7:15 a.m., Springfield Police Officers seized an illegal loaded firearm, crack cocaine and recovered a stolen motor vehicle.
Around 7:00 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Beacon Circle for a well-being check on three subjects in a vehicle. The vehicle was previously reported stolen.
When officers arrived, the three subjects were asleep inside the stolen car. The driver, a 17-year-old male, attempted to drive away, but officers were able to thwart that attempt and place him under arrest.
The front seat passenger, later identified as Quadrevian Roman, ran away. After a short foot pursuit, officers detained him. Inside his fanny pack, officers recovered two large rocks of crack-cocaine and more than $1300 in cash. Officers placed Roman under arrest.
The back seat passenger, later identified as Atavion Stewart, attempted to flee the vehicle, but was immediately detained. Officers recovered a loaded firearm on him. The firearm was loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition and capable of holding 15 rounds.
20-year-old Atavion Stewart of Springfield is charged with:
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine/Feeding Device
- Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
19-year-old Quadrevian Roman of Springfield is charged with:
- Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Class B Drug
Due to his age, the juvenile’s name and specific charges will not be released.
