 Superintendent Akers Recognizes Sergeant Luis Delgado for Serving our Community

Springfield, Mass. --- Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers would like to publicly recognize Sergeant Luis Delgado for serving the public in a manner that shines a positive light on our department. 

Superintendent Akers received an email from a senior officer, detailing Sergeant Delgado’s role in the arrest and future extradition of one of Puerto Rico’s Most Wanted Fugitives.  In part it reads, “I know that Sergeant Delgado went above and beyond to facilitate with Puerto Rico so that this suspect would not be released on local charges after his arraignment, due to a Fugitive from Justice Court Warrant.  The authorities in Puerto Rico were willing to extradite the suspect.  Sergeant Delgado, not only did he tackle this issue while working his tour, but came back after his shift had ended to complete all the documentation to ensure that we had the probable cause to obtain the fugitive charge.  This is just one example of how Sergeant Delgado has embraced his role and continues to work towards excellence.”
