SPD Homicide Investigation Leads to Arrest in Sunday Night Shooting

Springfield, Mass. --- At approximately 10:15 a.m. Monday December 1st, Springfield Police Officers under the direction of Captain Trent Duda arrested 21-year-old Daevon Shular in connection with a shooting Sunday night. 

At approximately 10:40 p.m. Sunday November 30th, officers responded to the 0-100 block of Home Street for a report of a gunshot victim.

Officers located an adult male gunshot victim inside an apartment.  The victim was transported to Baystate where he succumbed to his injuries. 

The SPD Homicide Unit under the direction of Captain Trent Duda began investigating and identified Shular as a suspect.  

Monday morning, Shular was arrested at Baystate.  Shular was privately transported to the hospital Sunday night due to a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.    

This remains an ongoing investigation conducted by the Springfield Police Homicide Unit in conjunction with the Hampden District Attorney's Murder Unit.  

21-year-old Daevon Shular of Seguin, Texas is charged with:

  • Murder
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
  • Attempt to Commit a Crime (Armed Robbery)
