SPD Officers Arrest Car-Break Suspect
Springfield, Mass. — On Tuesday November 4th at approximately 2:20 a.m., Springfield Police Officers assigned to Squad A arrested 26-year-old Alex Mestre in connection with car breaks.
Around 2:00 a.m., officers responded to a hotel on the 800 block of East Columbus Avenue for a report of a suspect breaking into motor vehicles. Members of the Springfield Police Real-Time Analysis Center (R-TAC) utilized city cameras to provide officers a description of the suspect.
Officers located the suspect, later identified as Mestre, on Norwood Street. Mestre is suspected of breaking into at least two vehicles. When officers stopped Mestre he had a toolbox on him, which was returned to one of the vehicle's owners.
Mestra had two outstanding arrests warrants, crack-cocaine and unknown pills on him. Officers placed him under arrest.
26-year-old Alex Mestre of Springfield is charged with:
- Breaking and Entering into a Vehicle - Nighttime for a Felony (Two Counts)
- Larceny Over $1200 (Two Counts)
- Possession of a Class B Drug
- Possession of a Class E Drug
- Arrest Warrant - Springfield District Court
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle - Default Warrant - Springfield District Court
- Utter False Check
- Forgery of a Check
- Attempt to Commit a Crime
