SPD FIU Investigation Leads to Fentanyl, Heroin & Cocaine Trafficking Arrests
Springfield, Mass. — At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Thursday October 23rd, members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Sergeants David Robillard and Evan Donermeyer made two arrests and seized a trafficking weight of cocaine, heroin and fentanyl.
Over the past several months, FIU Detectives have been investigating the illegal distribution of heroin from an apartment on the 100 block of Massachusetts Avenue with Brandon Torres as a suspect. Detectives then applied for and were granted a search warrant for the apartment.
On Thursday morning, Detectives executed the search warrant on Massachusetts Avenue. Torres, Alicia Ferrer, and several children ranging in age from three to twelve were inside the apartment. The children were released to a family member.
Detectives then began their search and located approximately 125 grams of crack-cocaine, 65 grams of powder cocaine, 309 pills of suspected fentanyl and 37.2 grams of heroin/fentanyl (1862 bags).
Detectives also recovered $510 in cash, 58 strips of suboxone and a loose round of ammunition.
Torres and Ferrer were placed under arrest.
31-year-old Brandon Torres of Springfield is charged with:
- Cocaine Trafficking 100-200 Grams
- Fentanyl Trafficking More than 10 Grams
- Heroin Trafficking 36-100 Grams
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
- Reckless Endangerment of a Child
23-year-old Alicia Ferrer of Springfield is charged with:
- Cocaine Trafficking 100-200 Grams
- Fentanyl Trafficking More than 10 Grams
- Heroin Trafficking 36-100 Grams
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
- Reckless Endangerment of a Child
