Superintendent Akers Recognizes Officer Herman Little for Serving our Community

Springfield, Mass. --- Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers would like to publicly recognize Officer Herman Little for serving the public in a manner that shines a positive light on our department. 

Superintendent Akers received an email from a woman that just had an encounter with Officer Little.  In part it reads, “My heart is filled with deep gratitude and joy as I write this. I nearly collided with another vehicle and was in a state of panic when I pulled to the side of the road.  I assumed the worst when I saw the police car behind me.  I started having a panic attack in my car and the officer approached the vehicle.  The officer then coached me to deep breathe and told me the important thing was to be safe and take care of myself. 

I was deeply touched at how kind and compassionate this officer was.  He was simply concerned about my safety and waited to make sure I was going to drive away safely.  (Officer Little) was an angel to me today.  He demonstrated that keeping our streets safe also extends to making civilians feel valued and safe from inner fear.  I want to say thank you to the officer for his help and guidance.  His kindness touched my heart.” 

Superintendent Akers stated, “I want to thank you for treating this woman with care and kindness.  That is what we are supposed to stand for.”
