Donation Box Theft Suspect Arrested, SPD Detectives Seeking to Identify Second Suspect

Springfield, Mass. --- On Saturday September 27th around 10:30 a.m., Springfield Police Officers responded to the Springfield Library on the 200 block of State Street for a report of a larceny.  

Two suspects were alleged to have cut a lock to a donation box in the library and had also just done the same inside the Springfield Museums on Edwards Street.  

As security guards attempted to stop the suspects, a female later identified as Karly Bond, is alleged to have punched a security guard in the face.  

As officers arrived, they located Bond on State Street and placed her under arrest.  More than $500 in donations were recovered.

33-year-old Karly Bond of Hampden is charged with:

  • Breaking into a Depository (Two Counts)
  • Possession of Burglarious Instruments
  • Assault & Battery
  • Larceny under $1200
