AK-47, Trafficking Weight of Crack-Cocaine and Heroin/Fentanyl Seized after SPD FIU Investigation
Springfield, Mass. --- On Wednesday September 17th at approximately 6:15 a.m., members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Lieutenant Jaime Bruno, members of the Springfield Police Emergency Services Unit (ESU) under the direction of Lieutenant Matthew Benoit and members of the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department arrested three suspects and seized a rifle, crack-cocaine, heroin/fentanyl and nearly $7000 in cash.
Over the past several months, FIU Detectives have been investigating drug distribution in and around Hennessey Park on Oak Grove Avenue. During the investigation, Vidal Hernandez-Vazquez was identified as a suspect, along with Idaliz Maisonet and Rebecca Pachot.
FIU Detectives applied for and were granted search warrants for a home on Sycamore Street, Worcester Street in Indian Orchard and a vehicle in connection with this illegal drug activity.
Wednesday morning, members of the FIU and ESU executed the warrants. At a home on the 0-100 block of Sycamore Street, Detectives and Officers located and detained Maisonet and Pachot. Detectives had observed Hernandez-Vazquez inside the home and located him hiding in an attic. Springfield Police K9 Officer David Olszak and K9 Ace located Hernandez-Vazquez and he surrendered.
K9 Ace then detected narcotics in the home. Detectives recovered approximately 34 grams of crack-cocaine and approximately 607 bags of heroin/fentanyl (12.1 grams). Detectives also seized $2885 in cash.
FIU Detectives then located an AK-47 style rifle with a 30-round magazine, loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition, considered an assault weapon in Massachusetts. Additionally, Detectives recovered 51 rounds of ammunition and a firearm magazine.
Nearly simultaneously, Detectives executed the search warrant on the 1200 block of Worcester Street. Six individuals were inside and later released. During the search, Detectives seized 15 rounds of ammunition and $3970 in cash.
During both searches, $6855 in cash was seized.
19-year-old Vidal Hernandez-Vazquez of Indian Orchard is charged with:
- Cocaine Trafficking 18-36 Grams
- Fentanyl Trafficking More than 10 Grams
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm
- Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
- Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
- Unlicensed Possession of an Assault Weapon
- Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
47-year-old Idaliz Masionet of Springfield is charged with:
- Cocaine Trafficking 18-36 Grams
- Fentanyl Trafficking More than 10 Grams
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm
- Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
- Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
- Unlicensed Possession of an Assault Weapon
- Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
45-year-old Rebecca Pachot of Springfield is charged with:
- Cocaine Trafficking 18-36 Grams
- Fentanyl Trafficking More than 10 Grams
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm
- Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
