Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, today, reached out to Governor Maura Healey regarding State Police assistance on continued efforts to combat illegal dirt bike and street take over disturbances. Even though Police Superintendent Akers and the Springfield Police Department have done a good job curtailing these illegal activities by taken over 130 illegal dirt bikes and vehicles off our streets and out of our neighborhoods, more needs to be done.
Mayor Sarno states, “We can not tolerate this disrespectful and dangerous behavior/ actions! We always had a very strong working relationship with our State Police and I call upon them to once again partner with our Springfield Police Department to enhance our counter attack operations with this force multiplier. Police Superintendent Larry Akers and I once again would welcome their assistance.”
