Springfield Public Schools will be closed for the remainder of this week, Students to return Monday, September 14, 2026

Springfield, MA – As Springfield Public Schools continues to address the cyber incident, schools will remain closed for students Thursday, September 10, and Friday, September 11. Students will return to school on Monday, September 14.

Friday, September 11, will serve as a professional development day for teachers, providing educators with dedicated time to prepare for the return of students and for school operations under temporary procedures while technology systems remain limited. This professional development day will replace a previously scheduled professional development day.

“Our priority is making sure that when our students return, our schools are prepared to welcome them back safely and continue providing the education and support they need,” said Superintendent Dr. Sonia Dinnall. “We know these unexpected changes have created challenges for our families and staff. We are grateful for their patience as our teams continue working around the clock to address this incident and prepare our schools to reopen.”

In the coming days, the district will continue adding to the FAQs posted on its Facebook page to provide the Springfield Public Schools community with information about what to expect as schools reopen.

We appreciate the continued patience, flexibility and cooperation of our students, families and staff as we work toward a safe and successful return to school on Monday.
