Mayor Sarno meets Springfield Technical Community College’s new President Jennifer Cournoyer – First Woman to Lead STCC

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Communications Director Molly Shea were pleased to meet with Springfield Technical Community College’s (STCC) new President Dr. Jennifer Cournoyer and STCC Chair of the Board of Trustees Michael Knapik, who previously served in both houses of the state legislature.

Dr. Cournoyer, who most recently served as Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at River Valley Community College in Claremont, N.H., brings more than 12 years of experience in two-year colleges across New England. She is the seventh president of STCC and first woman to lead the institution.

Mayor Sarno states, “Springfield Technical Community College continues to be a great partner to Springfield and remains focused on education and training for a competitive regional workforce and meeting the needs of our community. STCC is Massachusetts’ only technical community college and offers top-tier associate degrees in nursing, mechanical engineering, biotechnology, robotics, and information technology. Just as former President John Cook helped elevate STCC to the next level, I am confident Dr. Cournoyer will do the same, especially with Governor Healey’s free community college initiative available to all Massachusetts residents without a bachelor’s degree.  Thank you, Dr. Cournoyer and former Senator Knapik for taking the time to meet today, and for your continued partnership. Good health and God Bless."
