Mayor Domenic J. Sarno is proud to join other mayors and officials from across the nation and sign-on to Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s letter of support to the United States Senate asking to extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti. A bill to extend TPS for Haiti passed in the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this year and is now before the U.S. Senate.
Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states, “From the College of the Elms President Dr. Harry Dumay, to my dear family friends of Haitian decent, and the many Haitians, in respect to our country, who proudly take the oath of citizenship at our Annual Naturalization Ceremonies that I am so honored to attend and speak at our historic Springfield Armory. I have seen their desire and drive to achieve in many different careers. As they escape the torrid violence of their home country, they come to America in appreciation for opportunities to not only provide for themselves and their families, but just as important to our communities. For this reason, I am proud to sign-on to this letter.”
