Mayor Sarno, Congressman Neal, Governor Healey and Officials Tour CRRC

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Congressman Richard Neal, Governor Maura Healey, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, MBTA General Manager and Interim Transportation Secretary Phil Eng, and city and state officials joined with CRRC MA leadership team including President Zhaofu Wang, Vice President Kemu Zhang, along with Jeremy Dunn of IBEW Local 7 and Mike Lafleur of Local 63 to tour the manufacturing facility and highlight the federal, state and local collaboration that fights to keep good paying manufacturing jobs alive and well in the City of Springfield.

Mayor Sarno states, “First, I want to thank the CRRC MA team for their continued belief, investment and support of our Springfield. We have been fortunate to have CRRC, the world’s largest railcar builder, here in the city.  From the beginning, this has been all about a good four-letter word ‘Jobs’.  Thank you again to the CRRC MA team for their continued commitment to employing our residents and hiring more workers with good paying jobs, which has the full support of my administration. The dedicated workers at CRRC were also very understanding and supportive through our collaborative efforts to fight and bring back furloughed workers to the job. Congressman Neal and I stayed in contact with Gov. Healey, Sen. Ed Markey, MBTA Secretary Eng and CRRC officials throughout the U.S. Customs and Border Protection hold up to keep a unified front to advocate for the dedicated CRRC employees. We are thrilled they were able to get back to their jobs, and it was great to see back at work.”
