Mayor Domenic J. Sarno ran into Chris Dion, Director of Public Safety for the MassMutual Center, Friday. Chris surprised Mayor Sarno with a special piece of memorabilia from the old Civic Center – one of the old Civic Center Chairs. Mayor Sarno was touched and now proudly has the chair on display in his office as a conversation piece.
“It really was a conversation starter to be walking downtown toting a folding chair, and I was thrilled to share with everyone that this chair is a piece of our Springfield Civic Center history," said the Mayor. "I even had a chance to show it off to my friends, ‘The High Five Guys’ who were in line for Thunderbirds Tag Sale day – looking forward to another awesome T-Birds (Springfield Thunderbirds) season at the ‘Thunderdome!’ Chris Dion and team do excellent work on behalf of the MassMutual Center and I am very grateful and touched that he thought to share this with me. Good health and God Bless."
