Mayor Domenic J. Sarno met with the new President of Western New England University (WNEU) Joseph Hartman and Dennis Murphy. President Hartman began his leadership of the University on June 1st, 2026. Mayor Sarno received updates on the university, which is located in Springfield’s Sixteen Acres neighborhood.
Mayor Sarno states, “It was good to be with new WNEU President Joseph Hartman, and Dennis Murphy as we continue to move our Springfield forward. It was great to hear the updates on the University, and the vision he has for the exciting initiatives including expanding our City’s partnership with WNEU too.”
