Mayor Sarno Letter to the Editor: Hallmark events bring vibrancy and spirit to our Springfield

In these times of negativity, vibrancy and spirit filled our city of Springfield the past two weekends with hallmark events. Thousands of people of all creeds, colors, and backgrounds descended to our Riverfront, downtown, and South End neighborhoods showcasing a beautiful and harmonious mosaic of Springfield and beyond.

From our Spirit of Springfield 4th of July fireworks and Springfield Symphony Orchestra event on our Riverfront, to our Jazz & Roots Fest, to our Mount Carmel Sons and Daughters of Italy Italian Fest, to the MassMutual Centers’ “The Landing” World Cup Soccer Watch Party, to MGM’s Free Friday night outdoor concerts, and to White Lion’s PrideLands outdoor event, we had no problems and/or issues, just safe, sound, and good family fun.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all the organizers, benefactors, volunteers, all our city department teams, our media partners, and of course, you the people, families, and visitors, who came to our Springfield and had a good time. Spread the good word that we’re open for business and enjoyable times.

Respectfully,

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno
