Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton Harris, and Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management Director Tom Ashe are alerting the public that the beach area at Camp Wilder located on Parker Street is closed to the public. No swimming in the water at Camp Wilder is permitted until further notice.
The City of Springfield’s Department of Health and Human Services’ routine water sampling indicated an exceedance of permitted bacteria levels. The water will be retested on Monday. The water way and beach will remain closed until further notice.

City of Springfield Announces Camp Wilder Beach Area Safe to Reopen
Springfield, MA – City of Springfield Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton Harris announced today that the water test results for bacteria at Camp Wilder came back within the normal limits. The beach and swimming area at Camp Wilder are safe to be reopened.
