Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Veterans Services Director Joe DeCaro attended the first Annual ‘Swing Fore Vets’ Golf Tournament hosted by the Italian American Citizens Club (IACC) at Veterans Memorial Golf Course on Friday morning.
Mayor Sarno states, “Veterans Services Director Joe DeCaro and I are proud to join with John McCaffrey and the committee at the IACC as they host their first annual ‘Swing Fore Vets’ golf tournament for Clear Path for Veterans New England. The organization has a Canine Program, called Pets to Vets, that pairs veterans with expertly trained service dogs and invites veterans into the training journey itself. This past year, Clear Path for Veterans New England federal funding was cut. Funds raised at the tournament will be donated to help cover the cost of training a service dog for a veteran family. Also, shame on the Federal Administration for completely cutting their funds too. Just plain unbelievable to take this service away from a veteran and their families in need!”
