Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined to bring greetings at a special presentation honoring the work and incredible impact of former Massachusetts State Representative Benjamin “Ben” Swan, a Springfield champion and civil rights icon. Also in attendance was Mayoral Aide Shroyria “Shay” Kraus.
On Wednesday at the Raymond A. Jordan Senior Center, Mayor Sarno brought greetings as members of the Springfield Museums African Hall Committee including Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton Harris, Springfield Cultural Council President & VP of the Urban League of Springfield Andrew Cade, and Springfield Housing Authority Executive Director Denise Jordan, hosted a special presentation and community conversation with retired State Rep. Ben Swan on his enduring impact as a leader of the Civil Rights movement to his role as an elected leader in the Massachusetts State House. A special presentation of that interview with Ben Swan, filmed by Focus Springfield, was shown.
