Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Executive Director of Parks, Buildings, and Recreation Management (PBRM) Thomas Ashe have announced that the City of Springfield will open both Franconia and Veterans Memorial Municipal Golf Courses tomorrow, Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
Both Franconia Golf Course and Veterans Golf Course are 18-hole courses that have recently undergone $1 million in renovations. The Clubhouses at both of Springfield’s municipal courses have also seen transformative upgrades. Last year, the 2025 golf season brought in a record year for the city courses with a combined revenue of $2.3 million dollars for rounds of golf, and golf cart rentals.
Both courses are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to dusk, and Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to dusk. Visit the golf course website for more information: https://vets-franconia-golf.com/ or call 413-787-6467.
The City’s golf season typically lasts nine months, starting in early spring and ending in late fall.
Mayor Sarno states, “The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and tomorrow the clubs will be swinging at our beautiful, award-winning, municipal golf courses. As clear fan favorites, Veterans and Franconia are being nationally recognized and are quickly becoming a hidden jewel in the region, while also offering some of the most affordable rates in the area. The investments and renovations made at both Franconia and Veterans have enhanced the quality of play for players of all ages and levels. On top of that, we invested in transforming the outdated clubhouses at both courses – now the inside of both the Veterans and Franconia Clubhouse’s, which had not seen any major updates since they were built in the 1960s, matches the quality of the courses.
