Springfield DPW to Accept Chapter 90 Funding for Street Paving

Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chris Cignoli, Director of the Department of Public Works (DPW), announced today that street paving operations will soon begin on city roadways.  The City of Springfield is scheduled to receive $5 million in Chapter 90 funds for the paving of public roadways.  Mayor Sarno will put the acceptance of the city’s annual allotment of state Chapter 90 funds before the City Council for their approval on their next meeting on April 7th, 2026.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Governor Healey and our state delegation for their continued efforts in securing Springfield’s annual allotment of state Chapter 90 funds.  This was a brutal and unprecedented winter.  This much needed Chapter 90 funding, once accepted, will kickstart DPW’s street construction and paving operations for the season.  I want to thank our residents and business community for their patience as the roadway construction season is scheduled to begin.”
