Mayor Domenic J. Sarno visits with retired Treasurer and CFO Stephen Valenti.
Mayor Sarno states, “Though the visit was somber, due to the recent and unexpected passing of his beloved son Ralph, it was good to see Steve to once again express my sympathy thoughts, prayers and encouragement to he and his family. Steve was an outstanding Treasurer and CFO with a keen sense of financial and business acumen and a great sense of humor, which was appreciated, as we met during my days as a Mayoral Aide to then Mayor Mary E. Hurley in 1989. Those were very challenging financial times for our city, state and nation. Steve has served on various financial past review committees for the city and I. Thank Steve for always keeping your heart with our City of Springfield. Stay well my friend, and God Bless.”
