Today, Mayor Domenic J. Sarno issued a statement on the passing of Allene Begley Curto, who previously served as a dedicated member of the Springfield School Committee.
Mayor Sarno states, “I am very sorry to hear about my friend, retired longtime School Committeewoman, Allene Begley Curto’s passing. My sympathy, thoughts, prayers, and encouragement go out to her sons Aaron and Jim, and daughters Alicia and Angela, and family and friends. She was the daughter of legendary movie and TV actor the late Ed Begley Sr., and sister to movie and TV actor Ed Begley Jr. Allene was a very dedicated School Committee member, who always compassionately advocated for our students, their families, and our teachers and staff. May God rest her soul.”
