Mayor Sarno, city leaders join Senator Markey, Congressman Neal for ribbon cutting ceremony at the Hope Center for the Arts

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno was thrilled to join for a ribbon cutting ceremony and special announcement at Hope Center for the Arts with Hope Center/Hope for Youth and Families founder Bob Bolduc, U.S. Senator Ed Markey, Congressman Richard Neal, our city leaders, and a number of Springfield students and families on Friday afternoon.

Hope Center for the Arts, founded by philanthropist Bob Bolduc, can be found on Bridge Street at the site of the old “CityStage” theater. Now, completely transformed, the new Hope Center for the Arts is Springfield’s new creative campus in downtown.

Understanding that some of our youth prefer the arts to sports, Mr. Bob Bolduc, a successful business person and philanthropist, sought to create an educational arts hub for our future leaders. Mr. Bolduc put $10 million of his own money toward this transformative project and worked alongside our federal delegation to secure an additional $5 million. The City of Springfield was proud to play a role in the project having funded the exterior and parking improvements.

Now Hope Center for the Arts is officially open and ready for you to visit! Springfield families, please also explore the FREE After School Arts Programs offered at the Hope Center:

Mayor Sarno states, “Thank you to Senator Ed Markey and Congressman Richie Neal – they secured a major $5 million earmark for this project which will undoubtedly benefit our Springfield community for years to come. The youth artists who were with us Friday are shining examples of the creative talents among our students. My administration was proud to be part of seeing this project come along and funded all he exterior improvements to the plaza area. Bob Bolduc and his team have done a fantastic job with this facility for youth development and entertainment activities, Bob puts his money where his mouth is! I encourage everyone to check out all that the new Hope Center for the Arts has to offer.”
