Mayor Domenic J. Sarno welcomed Rabbi Chaim Kosofsky and Noach Kosofsky to celebrate Purim. Purim celebrates the rescue of all Jews in the Persian Empire as recorded in the biblical book of Esther. As part of the celebrations, it is customary to celebrate by eating hamantash.
Rabbi’s Chaim and Noach Kosofsky, have continued the tradition in following the legendary, late Rabbi David Edelman in visiting to pray over Mayor Sarno for good health and strength to lead the city.
Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Rabbi Chaim Kosofsky and Rabbi Noach Kosofsky for continuing this wonderful tradition by stopping by to share the Purim celebrations. Our Jewish community is a loving and respectful community and the City of Springfield proudly stands with them during these celebrations. Continued health and safety to our Jewish community here, and abroad.”
