Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chief of Staff Bill Baker met with Springfield City Library Director Molly Fogarty, Springfield Library Commission chair Stephen Cary, and Executive Director for the Springfield Library Foundation Matt Blumenfeld today to hear updates on the East Springfield Library expansion project.
“We love our Springfield Libraries, and we continue to work together to expand and enhance our beloved, nearly 100-year-old East Springfield neighborhood branch library,” shared Mayor Sarno. “I appreciate the hard work and efforts from the neighborhood, especially East Springfield Neighborhood Council President Kathy Brown, City Councilor Mike Fenton, as well as Chief Administrative and Financial Officer Cathy Buono, our Capital Assets and Construction team with Peter Garvey and My-Ron Hatchet, and Health & Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton Harris toward this important neighborhood library project.”
“My administration has worked very hard to not only keep libraries open in all our neighborhoods, but have also expanded hours and programming, and even built a new library in East Forest Park. Much like we did with the EFP Library, we are now in the fundraising phase for the East Springfield Library project,” explained Mayor Sarno. “Special thank you to Library Director Molly Fogarty, Matt Blumenfeld and the Library Foundation, and to Library Commission Chairman and my old friend and soccer teammate Steve Cary for your ongoing work toward all of our libraries throughout the city, and for today’s updates. We are looking forward to another successful library transformation. Good health and God Bless.”
