Mayor Domenic J. Sarno met with Chae Swan, Wes Jackson- out-going Executive Director, and Tony Bergeron, the new Executive Director of the South End Community Center (S.E.C.C.). Mayor Sarno and Chae Swan have both also served as Executive Directors of the S.E.C.C.
Mayor Sarno states, “I was so happy to welcome Executive Director Wes Jackson and the new Executive Director of the South End Community Center Tony Bergeron to my office today. The South End Community Center is very near and dear to my heart. As a former Executive Director (2002-2007), I was very proud that both Chae Swan and Coach Wes Jackson, who played important leadership roles during my time as Executive Director, were able to follow after me as Executive Director’s. We are happy to welcome Tony back to his roots of Springfield’s South End. Tony got his start in the South End as a boxer, and I thank the Board of Director’s, especially Skip Rousseau and Frank Capuano, who grew up in the old S.E.C.C. and have never forgotten their roots and continue to generously give back to the youths of our South End for their selection. Additionally, I would like to thank out-going Executive Director Wes Jackson, for his many years of dedication, and service to our City’s youth, and to the South End Community Center. ‘Hey, and by the way, you had four Executive Director’s in the room too!’”
