Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and many city colleagues joined today at City Hall to celebrate and thank Milagros “Millie” Johnson, Director of the Mayor’s Office of Consumer Information, for her 25 years of dedicated service and advocacy in helping others.
Mayor Sarno states, “Director Johnson – ‘Millie,’ and I go way back to our high school days at the High School of Commerce and also worked together under District Attorney Bill Bennett. We have been so fortunate to have Millie’s sharp skills and fierce advocacy here in our Springfield within the Mayor’s Office of Consume Information over the years. She was integral in educating and fighting alongside our residents who faced potential scammers out there following the June 2011 tornado, and she and her team were crucial in building a successful case against a slumlord that formerly operated in the city. Through her dedicated efforts on behalf of our residents, Millie has assisted hundreds of thousands of consumers in recovering over $15 million. Thank you, Millie for your tireless advocacy and dedicated service. Wishing you a well-deserved restful retirement.”
