Traffic Congestion expected downtown this weekend: Sidewalk and partial street closure on Main Street – Friday evening, December 5th through Monday morning December 8, 2025 –

Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and City of Springfield Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Chris Cignoli are alerting the public of temporary traffic and parking changes on Main Street in downtown Springfield for this weekend.

Beginning on Friday evening, December 5th, at 6:00 p.m., due to crane work being done on the building at 1350 Main Street, there will be temporary pedestrian and vehicle traffic and parking impacts on Main Street near One Financial Plaza/1350 Main Street which is at the intersection of Main and Court Streets.

The sidewalk outside of 1350 Main Street will be temporarily closed beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025 while hoisting is completed. Some on-street parking spaces on Main Street will not be available. The south bound lane on Main Street will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic, and two-way traffic will alternate in the north bound lane. There will be traffic cones, signs, and a 24/7 police detail to guide motorists.

The crane will be dismantled on Sunday and removed early Monday morning.
