Mayor Sarno and the Society of American Magicians celebrate National Magic Week

Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, staff and Thomas Gentile of the Society of American Magicians celebrate National Magic Week on Friday, ahead of October 25th- October 31st 2025, which is proclaimed National Magic Week in the City of Springfield. Mayor Sarno and Mr. Gentile have been celebrating National Magic Week for decades.

Mayor Sarno states, “Tom, Thank you for keeping the ‘Hocus Pocus’ alive and well!”

Magic is one of the oldest forms of entertainment. The Society of American Magicians was founded in 1902 and is an organization of professional and amateur magicians, and has chapters worldwide. The Society of American Magicians granted a charter fir Springfield Assembly #17, Dr. IR Calkins in August 1922. Today, there are many active magicians, “Valley Conjurers”, residing in Pioneer Valley, entertaining the citizens of Springfield and surrounding area for over 90 years.

Mayor Sarno added, “Happy National Magic Week to all of those who celebrate! The art of magic is one of the world’s most venerable forms of entertainment and is a wonderful expression of man’s cleverness, ingenuity and suspension of disbelief.”
