Mayor Sarno Joins with Symphony Hall for a Special Announcement

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Executive Director of Parks, Buildings, and Recreation Management, Tom Ashe, and Deputy Development Officer Tina Quagliato Sullivan joined Amanda Spear-Purchase, Venue and Events Director of Symphony Hall for a special announcement on Wednesday, October 8th at 1:00 The announcement featured performances, programs, and community events coming to the Hall over the next year along with the announcement of funding for upgrades.

President of Spirit of Springfield Judith Matt, Springfield Symphony Orchestra President and CEO Heather Caisse-Roberts, and representatives from MGM Springfield, Springfield Public Forum, and The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame were also in attendance

Symphony Hall has received $250,000 from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission’s Community Mitigation Fund that will be used for capital improvements to the historic and iconic Hall. The $250,000 that Symphony Hall is receiving is a part of the $2.7 million that the City of Springfield has gotten from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission’s Community Mitigation Fund for regional attraction improvements.

Mayor Sarno states, “Our Springfield has a long and rich history as the arts, culture, and entertainment capital of Western Mass. We are lucky to have beautiful and historic facilities like Symphony Hall and the investment here will be a game-changer for Springfield to attract the finest productions to our city. Symphony Hall is the host to our Springfield High School graduations, Springfield Symphony Orchestra, to world-renowned entertainment events, and I am looking forward to seeing the upgrades when they are completed.”
