On Sunday September 21st, the Springfield Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police in coordination with the Strides for Sean Race Committee, advise East Forest Park residents of temporary road closures and traffic delays due to the Strides for Sean 5K & 2 Mile Walk.
This event honors Trooper Sean Clark, a former Springfield Police Officer who went on to serve with the Massachusetts State Police. On June 10, 2025, Trooper Clark was struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop on the Mass Pike in Chicopee. The hit-and-run left him with life-threatening injuries; he continues intensive rehabilitation and faces a long road to recovery. The Strides for Sean 5K & 2 Mile Walk supports his recovery and provides direct assistance to Trooper Clark and his family.
This event is expected to draw over 500+ participants departing from the Nathan Bill’s parking lot and entering the streets of East Forest Park. A heavy law-enforcement presence will be in place to ensure public safety. Residents are encouraged to come out, cheer, and support the participants.
