Mayor Domenic J. Sarno issued a statement in observance of “National P.O.W.-M.I.A. Recognition Day,” a day dedicated both to all former American prisoners of war as well as those still missing, and to their families.
Mayor Sarno states, “Today, on POW/MIA Recognition Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who were taken Prisoner Of War or remain Missing In Action. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifice of their families, is a reminder of the true cost of our freedom, and that freedom is not free. The City of Springfield stands in solidarity in remembering our service men and women who are POW/MIA, and promise to never forget them. God Bless our service men and women and their families, and God Bless America.”
