Mayor Sarno Brings Greetings to Welcome New US Citizens at USCIS Naturalization Ceremony at the Springfield Armory

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with the Honorable Mark Mastroianni, Federal Judicial Service Judge, US District Court, District of Massachusetts, Springfield Armory National Historic Site Superintendent Kelly Fellner, Springfield Technical Community College President Dr. John Cook, STCC Professor of Engineering Zahi Haddad, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Officials to welcome and congratulate new United States citizens at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Naturalization Ceremony on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Springfield Armory National Historic Site.

Mayor Sarno's Chief of Staff Bill Baker and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Judi Crowell, and the Mercy Warren Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution were also in attendance.

U.S. District Judge, the Honorable Mark Mastroianni presided, and the Clerk of Court administered the Oath of Allegiance to our new citizens. Over 140 individuals took the Oath of Allegiance representing 44 countries.

Mayor Sarno states, “As a son of Italian immigrants, I am happy to be with each of these individuals as they officially become citizens of the United States of America. Our country is a melting pot and the traditions brought from our home countries are an important piece of the fabric of our nation. America is still the greatest Nation on Earth. We are the beacon of democracy, strength, hope and opportunity and the envy of the world. God Bless the United States of American and God Bless the City of Springfield. Congratulations to all of our new U.S. Citizens.”
