Mayor Sarno meets with Travis Best and sister Darlene Best of Copeland’s Way Autism Awareness Organization

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno was honored to have Travis Best and his sister, High School of Commerce alumnus Darlene Best in the office today to get updates on Copeland's Way Autism Awareness Training. Later this month Copeland’s Way will be providing an Autism Awareness Training specifically designed for the law enforcement community to the Hampden County Sheriff’s office team.

Mayor Sarno states, “I am proud to stand with, support and help bring awareness to Autism in the City of Springfield. Since taking office, I have partnered on many events and placed a blue light bulb on our first floor here that illuminates the beautiful Autism art work that we have proudly displayed here at Springfield City Hall. I will proudly support this specialized training event and deeply appreciate Darlene Best and Asia Roberson’s commitment to helping law enforcement agencies ensure they are equipped to serve all members of our community with understanding and empathy. Thank you, Travis and Darlene for coming in, catching up, and sharing this this important resource with us. I look forward to continued partnerships, and am also looking forward to high school basketball season this year and the unveiling of the Travis Best Court at our newly renovated Central High School gymnasium. Good health and God Bless.”
