Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chief Administrative and Financial Officer (CAFO) Cathy Buono announced yesterday the appointment of Melanie Nacewicz, a Springfield resident, to the Board of Assessors. Nacewicz replaces Margaret ‘Pedge’ Lynch who is retiring and had been serving as the third member of the Board. Nacewicz will start Monday, June 2, 2025.
Nacewicz has served in the city of Springfield’s Assessor’s Office as a Senior Assessor Analyst since 2020, and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Southern New Hampshire Univesity.
Mayor Sarno states, “First off, I want to express my deepest thanks to Margaret ‘Pedge’ Lynch for her service to our Springfield and all of residents and businesses. I wish her all the best and for a happy, healthy and enjoyable retirement! CAFO Cathy Buono, Chairman of the Board of Assessors Attorney Patrick Greenhalgh and I are pleased that Melanie Nacewicz has agreed to join our Springfield Board of Assessors team. Having served in the Assessors Office for the past five years as a Senior Assessor Analyst, Ms. Nacewicz is very familiar with the city and the operations and duties of the department. She has a good and solid professional background, and I have the utmost confidence in her ability to serve as on the Board of Assessor. We are excited to have her on ‘Team Springfield,’ as we continue to keep our city’s financial position strong. These positions are highly specified and many a times difficult to fill. I am happy to have been able to promote from within, as this is huge for the moral of our employees.”
CAFO Buono stated, “I am excited that Ms. Nacewicz has accepted this position as our newest Assessor. I also want to thank Pedge for her years of service. Melanie’s experience working as a Senior Assessor Analyst with the city will help make this a smooth transition. She will be able to hit the ground running from day one.”
Attorney Patrick Greenhalgh, City Assessor and Chairman of the Board, stated, “I want to thank Pedge for her years of dedicated service to the Assessor’s Office. I wish her all the best and a happy retirement. Melanie has a strong work ethic and the skills to excel as our newest Assessor. I am very pleased to welcome her to our board.”
“First, I want to thank Mayor Sarno, CAFO Buono, Chairman Greenhalgh and Assessor Jessica Guerra for their vote of confidence in my abilities. I am truly excited for this opportunity to serve on the Springfield Board of Assessors and I am thrilled as this is a natural progression for my career,” said Ms. Nacewicz.
