Springfield is showing its patriotic pride!

More than 50 American Flags have been installed in Springfield’s Metro Center through a grant funded by City of Springfield’s Office of Community Development.  The goal is to provide beautification on Main Street.

The Spirit of Springfield received the funds for the flags and hardware, which were installed by the Springfield Business Improvement District. They will be on display annually from the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast, which falls in mid-May before Memorial Day, through Labor Day in September.

Spirit of Springfield President Judy Matt said, “We are honored to provide seasonal beautification services to Main Street.  It shows our patriotic spirit in the warmer months, and lifts our spirits during the holiday season with the magnificent new holiday lamp pole light displays.”

Mayor Sarno states, “Thank you to Judy Matt and her dedicated team and the Springfield Business Improvement District for the great work and collaboration to beautify our Main Street and Court Square area this season with a patriotic touch.  This is one of many public investments under my administration’s neighborhood enhancement fund that help create safe, healthy and vibrant neighborhoods throughout the City of Springfield. Another thank you to our dedicated neighborhood services team, spear headed by Tim Sheehan and Tina Quagliato-Sullivan.”

The grant also included the holiday lights that were installed on Main Street and Court Square in 2024.  They totaled more than 200 stretching from Lyman Street to Dover Street, and in Court Square.
