The City of Springfield and Springfield’s Department of Veterans’ Services wishes to extend an invitation to the public for our observance of Memorial Day.
We would be honored to have our community attend on Friday, May 23, 2025 on the front steps of City Hall at 12:00 p.m. for the city’s annual Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony, as we honor our nations heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice and helped secure our freedom and liberties.
The ceremony will include a speaking program on the front steps and a memorial wreath will be placed at each of the five veteran monuments, located at Veterans Way across from City Hall.
Mayor Sarno states, “The City of Springfield is proud and honored to hold our annual Memorial Day Ceremony. I want to thank Veterans’ Services Joe DeCaro and his dedicated staff for their continued efforts on behalf of our veterans. We want to acknowledge and honor the memory of our brave and dedicated veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy today. Freedom is never free, and it is because of our veterans that we are the beacon of democracy, strength, hope, and opportunity. God Bless our veterans and God Bless the City of Springfield.”
Any questions may be directed to Joe DeCaro, Deputy Director of Veterans Services, at (413)787-6141 or email at jdecaro@springfieldcityhall.com.
